TEACHERS SERVICE COMMISSION JOBS: RECRUITMENT OF ADDITIONAL AND  REPLACEMENT TEACHERS FOR PUBLIC  PRIMARY AND POST PRIMARY INSTITUTIONS  – AUGUST 2013

QUALIFICATION REQUIRESMENTS FOR PRIMARY AND POST  PRIMARY
The Sub-County merit panel will submit the merit lists to the TSC County Director  who will convene a County Selection panel to ratify sub-county merit lists and  compile the County Merit list for onward transmission to the TSC headquarters by 6th September, 2013.
POSTS IN PRIMARY INSTITUTIONS
Applications are invited from holders of P1certificate, who should submit their  applications together with photocopies of their academic and professional  certificates to Staffing Officers in sub-counties of their choice where vacancies exist  not later than 16th August, 2013.
POSTS IN POST-PRIMARY INSTITUTIONS
Applications are invited from Trained and Professionally Qualified Teachers of  Languages, Sciences, Humanities and Technical Subjects as indicated below:-
In addition to the basic requirements, candidates should:-
(i) Be holders of minimum grade of Diploma in Education/Diploma in Technical Education.(ii) For posts in Secondary schools, applicants must have at least two (2)  teaching subjects relevant to the curriculum.
(iii) Teachers of Special Needs Education (SNE), must have at least one (1)  teaching subject and Sign Language or Braille or both. These applicants are  eligible to apply to schools in which one of their teaching subjects is
advertised.
N/B:
Candidates whose training is in subjects that are currently not in the teaching  curriculum do not qualify for consideration irrespective of their having undertaken a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE).
QUALIFICATIONS
i) Graduate Teachers
Applicants must have a minimum of two (2) principles and one (1) subsidiary  pass at ‘A’ Level or a minimum mean-grade of C+ (plus) at KCSE and C+  (plus) in each of the two teaching subjects. In addition, they must have:
a) A Bachelor of Education Degree in two (2) teaching subjects.
b) A Bachelor of Science or Arts Degree plus a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) with two teaching subjects.
c) A Bachelor of Education with Diploma in Education with C Plain qualify for employment.
ii) Diploma Teachers Applicants must have a minimum of one (1) principle and two (2) subsidiaries
at ‘A’ level or a mean grade of C+ (plus) at KCSE or its equivalent and with at least C+ (or Credit Pass) in the two teaching subjects. In addition, they must have:
(a) A Diploma in Education from a recognized Teacher Training Institution.
(b) Diploma Teachers who graduated in 2008 or before with mean grade C (plain) qualify for consideration.

iii) Technical Teachers
Applicants must have a minimum of one (1) principle and two (2) subsidiaries at ‘A’ level or C- (minus) at KCSE or their equivalent. In addition they must
have:
(a) Bachelor of Education Technology degree
(b) Higher Diploma in a Technical Education course
(c) A Diploma in a Technical Education course
(d) Diploma in Technical Teacher Education from Kenya Technical
Teachers College (KTTC).
(e) For TIVET Institutions the applicant must have a minimum of a Higher Diploma in Technical Education.
iv) Special Needs Education Teachers KSL and Brailleis considered as a second teaching subject.
NB:
i) Applicants with Economics/Commerce/Accounting, Social Education and Ethics (SEE) can apply for Business Studies and CRE vacancies respectively.
ii) Diploma Teachers with English/other subject in the curriculum qualify for employment as English/Literature teachers.
iii) All applicants must have studied the two teaching subjects at KCSE except for Agriculture, Business Studies, and Computer. For Business Studies and Agriculture one should have attained a minimum of C+(Plus) in Mathematics and Biology respectively in KCSE.
iv) Graduate Teachers should have studied a minimum of eight (8) course units in each teaching subject.
vi) a) Candidates presenting enhancement certificate in a teaching subject(s) from recognized institution qualify for employment.b)Applicants previously employed under contract and whose  services were terminated due to deficiency in academic  qualification and have since enhanced are eligible to apply.
Applications together with Certified Copies of Academic/ProfessionalCertificates should reach the respective School/Institution and the TSC County Director not later than16th August, 2013.
The Board of Governors will conduct the selection exercise and submit recruitment documents to the District Staffing Officers immediately after the selection exercise but not later than30th August, 2013.
The TSC County Directors should submit the relevant recruitment documents together with certified copies of PIN Certificates and Bank Forms of all the successful candidates of the County to the TSC Headquarters by6th September, 2013.
